中西文化交融︰濠江英才舉辦英語夏令營

7月1日至5日，濠江中學附屬英才學校舉辦了主題為“中西文化交融”的英語夏令營，來自中學各年級共150名學生積極參與。本次夏令營旨在通過互動課程、小組活動和娛樂活動等動態課程，培養學生的跨文化理解能力和語言技能。營員們不僅能提高英語水準，還能收穫友誼和對全球視野的寶貴見解。本次活動由濠江英才英文科組籌辦，來自俄勒岡州立大學的四名實習教師、兩名外籍教師以及我校英文教師共同指導。

在為期一周的時間里，營員們參加了各種有趣的工作坊，將語言學習與文化探索相結合。活動包括虛擬觀光、烹飪課程、合作藝術融合、舞蹈融合和美食融合。活動尾聲，學生們還以英語向家長演講並展示他們的新技能。參與夏令營的學生表示，本次夏令營讓他們親身感受到西方文化的活力，互動工作坊、文化遊覽和熱烈的討論更有機會讓他們跳出課本，真正體驗到西方文化的豐富性和多樣性。

是次英語夏令營不僅為學生們搭建了一個展示自我、拓寬國際視野的平臺，更是一次深刻體驗中西文化碰撞與融合的寶貴機會。濠江英才計劃持續開展夏令營和更多豐富多彩的活動，促進跨文化交流，提高本地青少年的全球競爭力，培養更多具國際視野的優秀人才。

150 Students Immerse Themselves in Cultural Exchange at 'Camp Fusion--East meets West' Summer Program

Over the past five days, 150 students from secondary one to five participated in the 'Camp Fusion--East meets West' English summer camp, an immersive cultural exchange program that brought together young learners from diverse backgrounds.

The camp, hosted by Hou Kong Premier School, aimed to foster cross-cultural understanding and language skills through a dynamic curriculum of interactive lessons, group activities, and recreational events. By the end of the program, the participants will not only improve their English proficiency, but also gain lifelong friendships and valuable insights into global perspectives. This camp was coached by four intern teachers from Oregon State University, two foreign teachers, as well as the school's English teachers.

Throughout the week, campers engaged in a variety of engaging workshops that combined language learning with cultural exploration. Activities included virtual sightseeing, traditional American cooking classes, collaborative art fusion, dance fusion and food fusion. The students also had the opportunity to showcase their newly acquired skills during a final presentation attended by parents and community members.

"I’ve been able to engage with the Western culture in a dynamic, hands-on way that has breathed new life into my learning journey," said 17-year-old participant, Anthea. "The interactive workshops, cultural excursions, and lively discussions have allowed me to step outside the textbook and truly experience the richness and diversity of Western culture.”

The 'Camp Fusion--East meets West' summer program is part of Hou Kong Premier School's ongoing initiatives to promote cross-cultural exchange and global competency among local youth. Based on the overwhelmingly positive feedback from this year's participants, the organizers plan to continue offering the camp in the years to come.
