Hou Kong Premier School (HKP) Hosts Seminar on Intellectual Property
In today's rapidly advancing technological society, the importance of protecting intellectual property (IP) is clear. Protecting IP encourages innovation, maintains market order, and promotes technological and economic progress. To enhance the understanding of IP policies among students and staff, HKP held a seminar on October 15, featuring speakers from the Macao SAR Government’s Economic and Technological Development Bureau.
During the seminar, the speakers provided detailed explanations of key concepts, including "intellectual property," "copyright," "trademarks," "designs," and "patents." They discussed how copyright is obtained, protected, and used responsibly, as well as patent classification, registration, and the rights conferred by patents. The speakers emphasized that patents are crucial for the growth of the technology industry and that inventions are a shared wealth that deserves protection.
Understanding and respecting intellectual property is not only about legal compliance but also the foundation for fostering innovative thinking and creativity. The seminar helped students and staff gain a deeper understanding of IP issues, promoting awareness of the importance of respecting and protecting intellectual property. Students are encouraged to protect their own innovations while respecting the creations of others, contributing to public order and ethical standards in society, and becoming innovative, law-conscious youths in the new era.
