Hou Kong Premier School Hosts Career Planning Lecture: "My Curatorial Dream"

On February 21, the Labour Affairs Bureau visited Hou Kong Premier School to conduct an enlightening career planning lecture titled "Ask and Learn About Careers." The event featured guest speaker Ms. Lam Sio Man, a professional curator, who offered valuable insights into the curatorial profession and guided students in exploring potential career paths.

The lecture covered essential topics such as "What is Curating?", "Curatorial Experiences," and "How to Become a Curator." Through her personal experiences and vivid examples, Ms. Lam provided an accessible yet comprehensive introduction to the current state and future prospects of the curatorial industry.

During her presentation, Ms. Lam emphasized the importance of creativity, communication skills, and interdisciplinary knowledge in the field. She shared her own journey, illustrating how her passion evolved into a successful career through academic studies and practical experiences. The interactive Q&A session allowed students to engage actively, asking questions and discussing career challenges and planning in depth.

This lecture not only offered valuable career insights but also broadened students' perspectives on the curatorial field. Curating integrates knowledge from various disciplines, including art, history, and technology, while also requiring essential skills such as thematic planning, communication, and creative expression.

The event inspired students to reflect on humanistic concerns and social connections, encouraging them to recognize the potential for interdisciplinary collaboration. It is hoped that students will incorporate flexibility and creativity into their future career choices, laying a strong foundation for adapting to a rapidly evolving society.
