On July 20, 2023, under the leadership of Principal Niu, a group of 25 teachers (including administration teams and experienced teachers from HKP Primary and Secondary) headed to Guizhou, China for a 5-day patriotic trip, which is subsidised by the ‘School Development Plan’ of DSEDJ for teachers to learn about and promote Chinese history and culture.

During the mid-summer trip, the group visited famous sights and attractions, including Jiaxiu Building and Huangguoshu Waterfall. Marvelling at nature's ingenious workmanship, they also praised the sustainable development of the motherland's green mountains and green water. Teachers also had a chance to learn about its indigenous culture at Guiyang, the capital of Guizhou province; the experience at Xijiang Qianhu Miaozhai (西江千戶苗寨) and Qingyanzhen (青岩鎮) not only lets the teachers personally feel the culture of China’s ethnic minorities, but also learn the unique culture and folklore of the minorities from a close distance, which opened up their horizons.

Teachers visited the Xi Feng Ji Zhong Ying (息烽集中營) to realize the loyalty of the martyrs, climbed to the Loushanguan Red Army Long Zhandou Relic Site (婁山關戰斗遺址) to practice the spirit of the Red Army, and travelled to the Zunyi Conference Site (遵義會議會址) to pay homage to the revolutionary vanguard. The teachers felt that we should not forget why we started and where we are from, and should follow the example of our predecessors in casting the souls of our nation and taking the revitalization of China as our own responsibility.

Teachers were deeply inspired by this trip to pass on Chinese culture in their patriotism education. At the sharing session, they all said that this trip not only deepened their understanding of the spirit of the Revolutionary Long March and patriotic sentiment, but also greatly enhanced their sense of responsibility. In the future journey of education, teachers will further devote themselves to the inheritance of patriotism education and the great revival of the Chinese nation!
