During the previous winter, the K3 students planted radishes and carrots in their school garden. After months of diligent care from both the children and the gardener, the radishes were finally ready to be harvested! On February 15 and April 12, 2023, the K3 students, guided by their teachers, participated in the exciting activity of harvesting the radishes and carrots, divided into two groups.
Before the harvest, the teacher explained to the children the correct way to pull out the radishes without damaging them. The children also revisited the fact that a radish consists of a root (the edible part) and leaves. The children had to use all their strength to pull out the radishes as they were deeply rooted in the soil. The sight of the large radishes they had pulled out filled them with excitement! The moment of the radish harvest was a thrilling experience for the children, their faces beaming with a sense of achievement!
The radishes harvested by the children were taken to the school canteen and were included in their meals the following day. The children were so happy to eat the radishes they had nurtured and harvested. As for the carrots, the children took them home to share the fruits of their hard work with their families.
